Install Matlab on Ubuntu

1. Copy the iso files to the desktop of the virtual machine:

2. Mout the DVD image

sudo mount -t iso9660 /home/YourUserName/Desktop/2009b.iso /media/cdrom -o loop

3. Run the command in a terminal:

sudo /media/cdrom0/install

Do not run the command by clicking the install as shown in the figure, otherwise, it will complain there is no right to access the target folder.

4. As usual, procede as prompt:

5. Now the journey is started, see the progress and grap a cup of coffee, ….

6. Activate the matlab, and then start it!

    that’s exactly what I did…
    but at the end of the day I could not see any matlab launcher, if you know what I mean….

    The installation seem to works, but then I cannot find the matlab (executable) file…

    Any idea?

    You can create your own launcher. First try the command

    matlab -desktop

    to make sure that matlab and the GUI work. Then go to the menu and create a launcher using this command.
